I just got this Oakwood Dog Park email:
Hey Guys, It was brought to attention that the water spigot in the dog park has been turned off. My contact at Parks and Recreation told me that this was a step being taken by the city to conserve water and comply with the Stage 2 water conservation regulation that prohibits any outdoor use of water. I am trying to find out if they are planning to turn it back on when the city scales back to stage 1.5. I intend to write my city council person about this and complain; also the mayor and the at-large council people. I encourage you to do the same. Here's a link that will get you started( sorry it's so long): http://www.raleighnc.... Web_Content/category/Government/Electe d_Officials/Cat-MCH-2006509-142902-Counc il_Districts_ and_Me.html . I wish the city had decided to let us know about this ahead of time but they did not. For the time being I am hoping that everyone can bring water ( city tap water, of course) from home and pour it into the communal water buckets. Some dogs love to wash their feet; play in the water buckets and do other things that dirty up the water. Owners of these dogs should probably try to minimize this behavior until we get our water turned back on. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks ahead of time for your cooperation, Friends of the Off-Leash Dog Park at Oakwood Park Don Pickett 611 Monroe Drive Raleigh, NC 27604 919 833 1172 |
